Where Does Your Turf Come From?

Our synthetic grass starts life right here in the USA. Southwest Greens, part of Shaw Industries, a Berkshire Hathaway company, and each turf strand is crafted in Shaw’s U.S. factories. The advanced production lines use automation, Lean/Six Sigma quality controls, and in-house labs to meet industry-leading performance standards. When you plan to install artificial turf with Southwest Greens, you can trust that you’re installing long-lasting, American-made grass.
American Manufacturing: We produce turf in Shaw’s American plants such as Dalton, Georgia. Ongoing upgrades in Shaw’s factories maintain fiber precision and quality.
Vertical Quality Control: As part of Shaw, Southwest Greens manages every step of the supply chain. That enables us to maintain uniform fiber construction and appearance across production runs, prompt attention to any product issue, and complete tracking to resolve any defect efficiently.
Rigorously Tested: Before any turf arrives, it’s verified by Shaw’s laboratory and field evaluations. We use a 13,000 sq. ft. sports science lab and over 18,000 sq. ft. of outdoor test plots to simulate years of use. We evaluate turf blades for color, endurance, and realistic performance, so your yard or putting green stays vibrant and realistic for years.
CUTTING-EDGE INNOVATION
We continually refine our turf to be even more realistic and resilient. Some of our latest turf technologies include:
Bolt™ Fiber (High-Performance: Our Bolt fiber has a patented lightning-bolt cross-section. It resists flattening and recovers quickly, surpassing conventional wear tests by 2x. Its unique shape and curved angles reduce shininess, giving the grass a realistic, non-glossy look.
HydroChill® Cooling: We offer cooling infill that reduces turf temperatures by 30–50°F. This passive cooling system is perfect for warm-weather lawns and putting greens, keeping feet and paws comfortable even in summer’s heat.
Pet-Friendly Drainage: Our pet turf products are crafted for quick drainage and easy cleanup. It eliminates digging and dirty paws. And the way our artificial grass naturally sheds pet waste stops bacteria and smell accumulation.
Creaturf™ Personalization: Want your turf to have unique graphics or colors? Our Creaturf™ program lets you design turf with embedded branding or designs. From custom logos on backyard putting greens to distinctive pet turf, this capability lets you design without limits.
PERSONALIZED TO YOU
We consult with designers, golf pros, and customers to ensure our artificial turf perform in real settings. Feedback from golfers led us to introduce a new “spring green” tee turf color that integrates naturally with fairways. Little details like this make us trusted by Naperville professionals, residents, and designers.
We also offer specialized systems for every application — backyard putting greens, golf courses, pet areas, playgrounds, commercial lawns, game courts.
We take fake grass installation seriously. Done right, it’s a fine art. Our synthetic turf replicates real course playability. That’s why legendary golfers like Jack Nicklaus and Annika Sörenstam trust Southwest Greens. And because Southwest Greens is backed by Shaw’s full portfolio, we can customize every layer of your turf.
LOOKING AHEAD: 2026 AND BEYOND
Innovation never stops at Southwest Greens. Watch for major turf releases in 2026! Shaw Sports Turf revealed that customers will help pick upcoming field designs and that a patented “Game ON” synthetic turf (made in Calhoun, GA) will hit the market in 2026.
This playful spirit and technology will make their way to landscaping products soon. We can’t share all the info now, but know for certain, our R&D team is hard at work on the next generation of artificial grass.
New releases will be inspired by customer feedback and cutting-edge research, so your next Southwest Greens lawn or putting green will be better than ever.
