Southwest Greens of Illinois is proud to develop and install artificial turf that saves Naperville families and businesses time and money —allowing you to focus on the things that matter most. Using our progressive HydroChill® cooling technology, we’ve taken on the summer heat in an intelligent and straightforward way. A basic addition to the turf’s filling provides an average cooling range of 30-50 degrees and works naturally when hydrated by irrigation, rainfall, and dew.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
EVAPORATIVE COOLING TECHNOLOGY
Perspiration is an ordinary process of thermoregulation known as evaporative cooling. Evaporation of moisture from the skin’s surface has a cooling effect. In the same way, HydroChill® has shown to cool synthetic turf surfaces by the same scientific method. As the turf surface is heated by solar radiation, water kept in the HydroChill® turf is let go. Evaporating water removes heat, creating a cooler, more pleasant green for the players.
- HydroChill® uses moisture to produce a cooling effect. Rainfall, dew, and irrigation can help keep your lawn cool for days, subject to local weather.
- HydroChill® can be integrated into a majority of Southwest Greens' infilled lawn systems.
- HydroChill® will not affect the durability or warranty of Southwest Greens’ products.
- HydroChill® is UV-resistant and must be re-treated every two years for max performance.
WHEN IS IT MOST EFFECTIVE?
Environmental temperature outside does not necessarily determine surface temperature. Other elements contribute to an object’s surface temperature, like cloud cover, wind, the sun’s angle, and other elements.
HydroChill® provides maximum benefit when the sun is nearest the Earth, as shown in the solar radiation calendar. Throughout the summer season in Naperville, the sun is positioned overhead, causing surfaces to soak up more energy, resulting in hotter temperatures. The Earth’s rotation is likewise responsible for hourly variations in sunlight thus making HydroChill® most efficient during the hotter time of a clear day when most needed.
