Why synthetic turf outperforms organic grass for rooftops.

Rooftop Greenery

Green roofs have been making a difference in cities across the world. Green rooftops deliver shade, remove heat from the atmosphere, and reduce the roof surface and the air temperatures surrounding it. These kinds of rooftops are a ideal way to expand square footage and improve mental health by incorporating a green outdoor space in the concrete jungle. By choosing synthetic, you can open up the possibilities for implementing a creative space in an otherwise drab location.

Perks of Synthetic Turf Rooftops

There are several advantages to installing artificial turf on a rooftop. Here are some of our personal favorites:

Easy to Clean

Synthetic grass is extremely simple to keep clean and fresh-looking.

Lightweight

In comparison to traditional grass, there is no risk of safety issues or hazards, such as root and water damage.

Delivers Insulation

Protects building interiors from sweltering heat and can provide immunity to mold, mildew, or decomposition.

Less Maintenance

Artificial grass will last for a very long time and requires minimal maintenance if installed properly.

Adds Value

Provides a simple getaway while remaining in the concrete jungle.

Safe Space for Pets & Kids

With synthetic grass, your children and pets won’t be vulnerable to harmful fertilizers, pesticides, and weedkillers.

Create A One-Of-A-Kind Look

Artificial turf makes it convenient to install turf where organic grass would not grow, and you can create unusual figures, or even put them on walls if you want to.

Which Fiber Type Should You Go For?

There’s a lot to consider when selecting synthetic turf, much less what would be look good on a rooftop. Here are some crucial factors to keep in mind when evaluating options:

Nylon is a long-lasting fabric, but outdoor spaces are susceptible to expansion/contraction and will probably fade.

We recommend nylon for indoor use or situations with heavy commercial traffic or non-fill locations. All nylon non-infill Shaw products are subjected to thorough flammability testing to conform to building codes.

For a rooftop commercial area, we recommend an infill PE tape product.

PE tape is long-lasting without sacrificing performance; top-quality PE resins are fade-resistant and not prone to contraction and expansion. Our Play-Safe collection offers exceptional performance for this application.
